Our Kilkenny City B&B is surrounded by beautifully restored old buildings, contemporary shops, design galleries and restaurants. The city itself is small and compact enough to explore by foot and travellers to the city will never be left idle with an array of things to do in Kilkenny. Kilkenny, renowned for its Kilkenny Castle, is a thriving and cosmopolitan city with a unique selection of historic sites and buildings. Our prime location makes us one of the best bed and breakfast Kilkenny has to offer. Just a 2-minute walk from the Castle in the heart of Kilkenny is our Kilkenny B&B and our sister hotel, Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel.

THE MEDIEVAL MILE MUSEUM KILKENNY

If searching for places to stay in Kilkenny near the Medieval Mile, then look no further than Hibernian House. The Medieval Mile Museum is Kilkenny's newest visitor attraction and offers a unique, interactive look into years of history of Kilkenny. Set in the renovated Saint Mary’s church, the museum displays some of Kilkennys most famous stone carvings, relics and civic records which date back to the 12th century. The Medieval Mile Museum is a brief 2 minute walk from Hibernian House and a must see for visitors to the city.

DUNMORE CAVES

Dunmore Cave is a a 21 minute drive from the our guesthouse and is classed as one of Ireland's best preserved caves. The cave itself has impressive calcite formations which have grown over millions of years. Dunmore cave is also the site of a bloody Viking massacre in the 12th century where locals fled to seek refuge but were later found and killed by Viking raiders.

THE SMITHWICKS EXPERIENCE KILKENNY

Located a short walk from Hibernian House, the Smithwicks Experience is one of Kilkenny city's most popular attractions. Visitors to the world famous brewery will experience an interactive tour through over 300 years of brewing history, finished off with a taste of the Smithwicks 3 most popular brews.

KILKENNY CASTLE

Built In 1195 by the Anglo-Normans to control the fording point on the River Nore. Kilkenny Castle is an impressive and symbolic castle built by Richard De Clare. Our Guesthouse is a quick 4 minute walk to Kilkenny Castle making us the perfect B&B Kilkenny has for those wishing to discover Kilkenny Castle. or guesthouse if you are looking to take in all of Kilkenny City's attractions.

ST CANICES CATHEDRAL KILKENNY

The stunning St Canices Cathedral located 10 minutes from Hibernian House is the jewel in the crown of Kilkenny. Mass has taken place in St Canice’s Cathedral for over 800 years. The round tower that stands beside the Cathedral is only one of two left on the island that can still be climbed by visitors. The view from the top of the tower is a breathtaking view of the city and surrounding countryside makes the climb worthwhile.

 

FESTIVALS IN KILKENNY

The summer is a great time to visit the city of Kilkenny with non-stop festivals and events on, attracting hundreds of tourists to the area. The Cat Laughs, Kilkenny Arts Festival and The Food Festival are just some of the many festivals in Kilkenny for all to enjoy.

Kilkenny Golf Club is a short 10 minute drive from our property, boasting the best opening hole in the country with beautifully manicured greens. A short 20 minute drive from the city centre and you’ll arrive at Mount Juliet Golf Club, designed by the great Jack Nicklaus in 1991.
